As well as working with a regular team of Festival Volunteers, IF: 2012 is looking for eight people to fulfil a very special role as Firestarters . . .
French fire alchemists, La Compagnie Carabosse, will fan the flames of our imaginations and light up the night sky with a breathtaking transformation in Campbell Park, Milton Keynes, using dramatic fire, flames, music and sound.
Carabosse have staged their striking installations across Europe, with dancing fire sculptures, flaming fire pots and cascades of candles. Their event for IF: 2012 takes place over 3 nights (20 - 22 July) and will be one of their largest and most impressive yet, bringing an anticpated 25,000 people to Campbell Park for a truly memorable experience.
The Festival is looking for eight volunteers to join La Compagnie Carabosse as members of their team from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 July. Please note that the days will be long - from 10am through to 1.30am, though we’ll make sure you’re fed and watered, and have transport home each night. The public events will run over the three nights from 9pm to midnight.
You’ll be expected to assist the Carabosse team by helping to create and light their fire sculptures, and then staffing the event over each of the three evenings. The days will be spent emptying and re-filling the structures and sculptures with charcoal, changing candles and replacing fire pots. There may be some heavy-lifting required, and sturdy footwear, gloves and overalls will be required.
As La Compagnie Carabosse are from France, some knowledge of the French language and/or conversational French would be an advantage, although not essential.
If you are interested in being an IF Firestarter for La Compagnie Carabosse, please contact Jenny Gunston, Festival Co-ordinator: email@example.com or call 01908 280810.
