Presented by The Stables in The Spiegeltent
The rousing, sharp-suited Bellowhead are a multi-talented group of 11 musicians with more than a hint of music-hall about them. They play a plethora of styles from around the world - big band, soul, jazz-funk, classical strings – yet retain a unique sensitivity to English traditional music.
2006 saw the release of their extraordinary, groundbreaking album Burlesque, heralded as one of the most important folk recordings ever made. 2010 is already lining up to be another amazing year in the life of this unique, genre-busting band. They can now confirm that their next new studio album will be produced by the legendary John Leckie (Stone Roses, Radiohead, Buzzcocks) at Abbey Road studios.
They’ve also just won Best Live Band for an incredible 4th time at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and their singer Jon Boden was voted Folk Singer of the Year.
"One of the country’s greatest live outfits. They should be a source of national pride.” The Daily Mirror
“With the exception of The Who, Bellowhead are surely the best live act in the country.” The Independent
“The biggest, rowdiest and quite possibly, best thing to have happened to English music for a long while.” Q Magazine
